Programme GMG 2023 – Norway

The Student Committee at our host school, Da Vinci Montessoriskole, have created and shared a provisional programme for the second Global Montessori Games, and the first winter edition. Take a look at the sporting, educational and cultural activities they have to offer.

 

SunDay 1: Arrival

Teams will be greeted at the airport by their host families.

(Times are unknown as teams will arrive throughout the day)

Students will go to their host families to get better acquainted and get their first taste of Norwegian culture.

MonDay 2: Opening

Informal meeting at the school with sport, games and places to chill.

Opening Ceremony in the football stadium of Brann, by the Mayor of Bergen.

Light dinner at school and activities to get to know each other.

In the evening students will go back to their host families.

Tue Day 3: Sports day

Participants will have the choice between several indoor sports.

In the afternoon students will go back to their host families to prepare for the Cultural Evening.

Cultural Evening 

Teams will each bring food, drinks and culture from their homeland at a Cultural Market Place.

Wed Day 4: Cultural day

Students will meet in Bergen city centre, then explore the surrounding area during a scavenger hunt.

There will also be time to go souvenir shopping.

In the afternoon, we will walk uphill to enjoy the view from Fløyen mountain.

In the evening students will go back to their host families.

Teachers Workshop 

Teachers will get the opportunity to network and share ideas on Montessori education, as well as review the Global Montessori Games.

If anyone would like to present something, please let us know in advance

ThuDay 5:  Norwegian winter sports day

In the morning, we will travel to Eikedalen for a day of Norwegian winter sports, including down-hill or cross-country skiing, sledding or just playing in the snow.

(This will be based on individual interest and ability)

In the evening students will go back to their host families.

Fri Day 6: Sports for the mind day

Students will go to the Science Centre to have a Sports for the Mind day and experience virtual reality.

In the afternoon students will go back to their host families to prepare for the Closing Party in the evening.

Closing Ceremony and Party 

This is the chance to have fun, dance, sing and celebrate the exchange of culture and friendships made over the previous days.

SatDay 7: Farewell day

Farewell

Host families will drive their guests to the airport, depending on what time their group leaves.

Time to say goodbye to new friends made.
