Highlights from the trip included:
- Bærum Montessoriskole: This school’s warm atmosphere and mixed-age groups left a lasting impression. Teachers and students form a strong community where tasks like repairs, cleaning, and administrative duties are carried out together. The school emphasized the belief that Montessori education is the ideal way to prepare children and young people for the future and their responsibilities as adults.
- Drøbak Montessoriskole: Nestled in a beautiful natural environment, this school integrates outdoor activities into its curriculum. Students guided the group through their sustainable school building and shared their experiences with gardening, fishing, and campfire-building, which strengthen their connection to nature and each other.
- DaVinci Montessoriskole: Situated in a football stadium shared with various tenants, this school feels like a welcoming home. Details such as fresh flowers, candles, music, and shared meals contribute to its cozy ambiance. Students participate actively in planning, organizing, and budgeting for school activities, making the school operate like a small enterprise.
This journey was more than a professional visit; it was an opportunity for reflection, growth, and collaboration. The combination of innovative education practices, meaningful conversations, and the natural beauty of Norway provided participants with fresh perspectives and inspiration.
The knowledge and ideas gained during this trip will undoubtedly inspire new initiatives and approaches within Montessori College Nijmegen and Groesbeek, further enriching the educational experience for students and staff alike.
This was the third successful trip of this kind, facilitated by Global Association of Montessori Education and Sport (GAMES), and we look forward to creating and sharing many more experiences like it with schools and educators from all over the world.
Together, we can guide young people to build a better world!
