Since our first elementary version of Global Montessori Games, we have invited adolescent interns to join us in the planning and running of activities, to help guide younger learners in collaborative games, and to develop their own leadership skills through fun and fulfilling experiences for everyone in attendance.

During the recent GMG Bulgaria, we welcomed 13 young people from The Netherlands, Bolivia, and our host country of Bulgaria, who did an amazing job of facilitating cultural exchange through games, dance, team challenges and physical activities that focused on fostering teamwork and communication.

Their hard work and dedication did not go unnoticed, with teachers from all over the world commenting on their constant care, guidance, creativity and helpfulness in ensuring a positive and inclusive experience for everyone involved.

However, it is the opinions of the interns themselves that we would most like to share, as they reflect on their own experience and growth while undertaking this important role. The following is the reflection of these young helpers in their own words.

“Being an Intern gave me the opportunity to experience a week full of love, excitement and gratitude, seeing how shared learning and teamwork encouraged mutual understanding and friendship among children and interns.”
Daniela Isrrael – Bolivia

“I think this has made me a little more flexible and understanding, and I feel that have less prejudices about other people, countries and cultures now.”
Meike van der Voorden – The Netherlands

“Being an intern provided me the opportunity to develop new skills and learn about different cultures, while being someone that the participants can rely on. I realized how much I like being around children and helping them to have an unforgettable experience, while making friendships that are going to last a lifetime.”
Antonia Puncheva – Bulgaria

The impact that these young people had on our event, and that which they had on the younger children they were there to help and protect, cannot be overstated. Their dedication to providing a safe, fun and engaging experience to all participants – students and teachers alike – was influential in making this a successful event.

We at GAMES would like to thank them all for their hard work and the contribution to another memorable experience for all involved. We hope that it was one that they personally enjoyed and in which they were able to make life-long memories of their own.

Thank you to you young ambassadors of peace.
