The journey started with a visit of Bærum Montessoriskole, just outside Oslo, who shared their knowledge and experience of Montessori education for both elementary and adolescent children.
This was followed by a trip to Drøbak Montessori (venue of our Sustainable Development Games, 2022), an amazing school located on the Oslofjord and housed in a Powerhouse Building, making it one of the most sustainable school buildings in the world.
Here, visitors also learned a lot about the on-going micro-economy projects that students are engaged in.
The group then travelled by train to Bergen to visit Da Vinci Montessori (venue of the Global Montessori Games, 2023), and Bjørgvin Montessori. This last leg of the trip gave insight into different approaches within Montessori, and how schools, educators, and of course, children, adapt to different environments, be that a school in a football stadium or a more traditional setting and within a more rigid structure.
We would like to thank all schools who were willing to open their doors to their new friends, and the participants from Montessori College Nijmegen and Groesbeek for making this first Inspirational Tour a huge success!
Every school had something nice to take home with you. The fact that we have seen four schools provides a comprehensive picture of the possibilities within Montessori education. The combination of the teachers, different aspects, and circumstances in which they work, provides more inspiration for how this can be of added value for our own school.

We look forwards to planning many more Inspirational Tours, so let us know if you are interested in collaborating.
