Celebrating 5 Years of Promoting Peace and Sustainability: Global Association of Montessori Education and Sport

Since its inception, GAMES has been spearheaded by the collective efforts of Jeroen Gremmen, Roelant Wijngaards, and Aiden Bloodworth, who have worked tirelessly to organize events and activities across various countries including The Netherlands, China, Italy, Norway, Mexico, and soon to include Bolivia and Bulgaria.

At the core of GAMES’ mission is the promotion of peace and sustainability through the utilization of sports, cultural understanding, and fostering international friendships. Our events bring together young people from diverse backgrounds, offering a spectrum of sports, activities, and valuable work experiences.

One of our flagship events is the Global Montessori Games, catering to upper elementary students and adolescents. This event not only features traditional sports but also incorporates local sports, enriching the experience and celebrating cultural diversity.

A hallmark of our events is the Sustainable Development Games, where participants gain firsthand experience and awareness of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) selected by the host school. Integral to the experience is the immersion in the host country’s culture through homestays, facilitated by a student committee from the host school.

These events are not about competition; they are about collaboration, learning, skill development, and nurturing responsible global citizenship. As we celebrate this milestone, we reaffirm our commitment to connecting Montessorians worldwide and shaping a brighter future.
