After hosting our first ever event – Global Montessori Games – in 2019, Montessori College, Nijmegen, recently held the third installment of Sustainable Development Games, and welcomed more than 150 people from 11 countries to share ideas, learn and work together towards Climate Action.

As always, the connection was made instantly, through games, dance and shared activities, while the trips, workshops and hands-on learning were unique and engaging ways to integrate the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals into this experience. It was evident throughout the whole event of how much fun, love and cultural understanding was achieved, and we are now pleased to share the overwhelmingly positive feedback that we have since received.

96% of young people told us that attending the SDGames helped them to learn more about other countries and cultures and felt connected with their peers from around the world, while 87% said they enjoyed being in a host family – higher than expected, considering some had never travelled outside of their own country before.

In regard to the activities on offer, 95% of participants said they were satisfied with the sporting, educational and cultural activities on offer, and a whopping 98% said they had learned more about SDG 13: Climate Action. This shows what a varied and engaging programme, and the freedom to work and explore together, can offer young people, and the potential for impact they can make when they take these experiences home.

Of the parents and teachers who contacted us, 92% told us that they were very satisfied with the contact with the organizers, and that the event had exceeded their expectations. This noticeable growth in the young people that we work with, and the feedback we get from their parents and teachers, is a great reminder of why we hold these events. We welcome stories of growth and development that stem from attending our events and are proud to learn that 96% agreed that SDGames The Netherlands made a positive impact on their child.

“I enjoyed seeing the connection my students made with people from other countries and cultures, and the positive attitude from all. It is a unique and collaborative way to face the challenges of our time… the best example of Peace Education I have ever witnessed!”

Receiving such amazing feedback strengthens the belief in our mission and drives us to continue to improve our events and activities, so that we may connect more people from around the world and continue to guide them to make a better, more sustainable, and more peaceful future.

Thank you all for your continued support!
